Oliver credits Bryant for Hall induction

BIRMINGHAM | With five national championships as either a player or coach at the University of Alabama, Bill Oliver's place in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame will be secured this weekend with his induction in the ASHOF's class of 2013.

The former UA player and assistant coach credited legendary coach Paul W. "Bear" Bryant first and foremost when asked about his place in the hall Friday.

"I've got a pile of them. But the thing I appreciate more than anything is what I learned under Coach Bryant to begin with," Oliver said. "As a player, as a coach, the things he taught me about the recruiting part of it, abilities, how to play smart, and teach players to play smart. Those are things that go unnoticed a lot of times."
